Brother QL-570 Professional Label Printer Review

Great label printer. Fast, reliable, and quiet. A bit bulky but the size makes it easy to change the label.

Note about setting up printer for postage:
I bought this printer to print folder labels and postage. Folder labels was easy enough but postage proved difficult. I read on a forum that you could print USPS click and ship postage. Signed up on USPS and spent a few hours trying to fit the postage image onto the label. Finally, a search revealed that paypal has this functionality. I signed into paypal and under Profile -> shipping settings set the printer settings to ql-550 (ql-570 not listed but it's okay). It gives you a heads up that you need Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment to print labels to your label printer and points to you a link for the no longer unsupported J2SE JRE from 2005 that no longer works. You do need Java Run Time Environment but can use the newer one. You can get it by searching for JRE or get the older one by searching J2SE JRE.

Then I went into Label Printing Application found under Aution Tools tab -> PayPal MultiOrder Shipping and printed two labels. Wasted about 1 foot of labels trying to get them to print. Then finally realized there is another setting inside this MultiOrder Shipping App under Edit -> Settings. I set this to the ql-550 and hit the "Reprint" button (next to View Details...) under the History tab. I wasted another foot of continuous label trying to print the labels. Then realized that reprinting keeps the original printing formatting. Had to void out the labels and /really/ re-print them (luckily I didn't have to refill in the shipping details). Very annoying experience. end rant.

1. Download Java http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
2. Create or login your Paypal Account
3. Click auction tools -> free MultiOrder Shipping
4. If Getting Started pops up click Close
5. Click Edit -> Settings -> Print Settings -> Label Printer, and choose ql-550. (Also I unchecked packing slips and receipt. Packlist comes up after printing labels and you can choose your regular printer)
6. Click Ok
7. You are done. Click File -> Create New Order

Also, turn off pop-up blocker before trying to print and you might want to change your OS's "Printer Preferences" paper size to the correct value so you don't have to do this everytime you print. The default is wrong for the ql-570.

This is a big feature for the ql series so they should have some better documentation but it is equally paypals fault for poor documentation.

Informatics Wasp Wasp WWS800 Freedom Wireless Scanner Kit - barcode scanner ( 633808920074 ) Review

I bought 2 of these items becase as Amazon said "The kit comes complete with wireless scanner, Bluetooth radio/recharge base, PS2 keyboard wedge cable for the base, and recharge power supply."

On unpacking the items. there was no usb or ps2 keyboard wedge cable.instead i received 2 straight rs232 (serial) cables.My pcs don't even have serial ports!A such i am having problems getting these to work with my application program.Probably have to buy adaptors.

Attempts to contact manufacturer failed as at time of writing I cannot even access [...]

I am very disappointed in amazon as in my opinion they did not sell to me what they advertised on their website.

Adesso NuScan 2100U - Barcode scanner - handheld - 100 scan / sec - decoded - USB Review

These barcode scanners are inexpensive and easy to use, but seem to take a bit longer to read high-quality barcodes than I would expect.Beware of the company's product page which claims RS-232 communication capability, which it does not have.Also, documentation (online and included) is very poor, and customer service is terrible -- it took 9 days for their helpdesk to respond initially and we're at day 12 or so (21 total) waiting on response number 2.

If you want a scanner for simple keyboard emulation and using high-quality codes, this is a cheap alternative.For anything else including features listed on their site (or customer service of any kind), look elsewhere.

Metrologic MS 9540 VoyagerCG - Barcode scanner - handheld - 72 line / sec - decoded - USB Review

I just wanted to let any future shoppers know that Metrologic makes 9 different versions of this model.
What I was looking for was a black scanner with USB only. Just plug it into your PC and go.
I could not find the exact model number on Amazon so I had to buy it from a prefered reseller.

Wasp WWS500 Freedom Cordless Scanner - Barcode scanner - portable - 230 scan / sec - Bluetooth Review

I have used this scanner for scanning the UPC codes on beer packages on site in retail accounts. The initial setup was a little difficult. I gave it the ole' college try and had to basically teach myself the ASCII language to program the scanner, which in the end was interesting at the least. I had several questions about the setup so I decided to call Wasp. The experience with the customer support, although friendly, was not very useful. The customer service agent flat out told me "I don't know"to my questions. Defiantly not something you want to hear! If you don't know then who will? In the end I took the initiative and made this scanner do what I needed it to do. I would recommend this product to anyone in the market for one. The battery life is great. It is very light weight and ergonomical. Be prepared for somewhat of a learning curve with ASCII.

CONTACT CCD BARCODE SCANNER, 80MM, USB Review

This worked perfectly out of the box for Comicbase.Had tried the Adesso Nuscan 1000 first which didn't work at all.Works for scanning books as well.Some comics have extra 5 digit extension and some don't so I have to change the settings depending on what kind of comic I'm scanning into the database.

I use this unit to collect information from my data center servers, it is a very good product and reliable. Most complaints are regarding scanners which eat up the laptop batteries, does not scan at arms length or unless your less than a foot away and the software does not load all the scanner profiles available, the problems I listed, this scanner has none of them. I researched and tried other scanners over a period of 4 months, it has proven itself as a good product for professional and home applications usage.
