HP EY022AT Bar Code Reader Review

I got this when I had no idea what to expect or how does it work or even if it were to work without the specialized equipment that usually go with it.

I was happily shocked to see that it was a true "plug and play" thing on Windows XP and later versions. No installation or special drivers were needed or required. You plug it into your USB port and it starts working. Aim it at any bar code and it will read and translate from bar code to text into your application, text editor word processor or what have you. The rest is up to you as to how you will use it or what applications to buy to use with it.

I purchased the hand held scanner to read nonstandard bar-codes.The scanner did not work right out of the box and I did not realize there were so many bar-code languages. Ruby Electronics provided the best support possible and exceeded my expectations of what a supplier should do.If every electronics supplier worked with a customer the way they worked with me, no one would ever complain about a product not meeting expectations.Once I was given the correct bar-code language the scanner is perfect.I would definitely buy it again, but I would only buy it from Ruby Electronics.

USB Handheld CCD Barcode Scanner Review

We purchased 2 of these scanners for our business.The price was great but I guess you get what you pay for.The instruction manuel that came with the scanners has NO directions on set up at all.There is no contact number for technical support and we spent multiple hours trying to set them up.We finally got the first one to work, but it is very slow and it has a difficult time reading the UPC bars some times.We went to set up the second one and we followed the same steps that we used for the first one and it would not work at all.It does nothing and does not respond at all.I would not purchase this scanner.It is nothing but a huge headache.

USB Barcode Scanner Review

This USB Plug and Play Bar Code Scanner is a breeze to setup and use. I installed this scanner in Windows Vista. Windows installed it's own drivers, no software needed. I did have to use the CD-ROM to view the tech data and set up guide to get the unit to do a carriage return after scanning a barcode.Scanning is easy and the scan distance is very good for this low priced scanner. This unit is made by Symbol, a Motorola company. It comes with a special USB cable, and stand. I highy recommend this scanner.

We use about 5 of these in our office.Great all around scanner.Works on even very small barcodes (couple milimeters tall).I think this is probably like the worlds most popular barcode scanner, I try to buy them used when possible, and can usually find them.Reads all popular barcode types that I know of, and with a little research can be easily adapted to scan even more obscure types.Easy to use just plug into a windows computer if you have the USB adapter.

Metrologic MS 9520 Voyager - Barcode scanner - handheld - 72 line / sec - decoded - USB Review

I just wanted to let any future shoppers know that Metrologic makes 9 different versions of this model.
What I was looking for was a black scanner with USB only. Just plug it into your PC and go.
I could not find the exact model number on Amazon so I had to buy it from a prefered reseller.

Ccd Contact Barcode Scanner PS/2 Light Rugged Design Black Review

This is a marvel!Take it out of the box, plus in the USB cable to your computer and it works!! Just like that. No configuring. No hassle. I'm cataloguing my personal library of DVD's, Blurays, and books, and have been barcoding away since this was delivered last week. I am delighted.I have been using it with gurulib.com and librarything.com and it delivers information directly to the websites about the movies and books I've scanned in. The only downside is that it can't put the books back up on the shelves for me, but I will shortly have libraries in which it is easy to find what I want by genre, author/director, or title.

Hand Held Contact USB CCD Point of Sale Barcode Scanner Review

This is a pretty standard unit probably OEMed in a bunch of different brand names.

The scanner is a CCD scanner (as opposed to wand or laser) which means you have to hold the scanner close to the code to scan - either next to it or no more than an inch or so away.(FYI: laser scanners are the ones you can 'shoot' at codes at a distance, wands are ones you need to drag across the code (like CueCat))

It uses a standard "keyboard wedge", in that what you scan gets typed in as if it were from a keyboard.Has a trigger activation on the inner throat, though, in the manual there are many settings - including one to set it into a repeating pulse scan or continuous.

Supports many popular code symbologies: EAN-13, Code 3of9 (Code39), EAN-8, Code 39 with c/d, UPC-A, EAN-128, UPC-E, Code128, ISBN, Interleaved 2 of 5.- though it also states codeabar and MSI code, but those samples did not register on the scanner.

Manual includes several options configuration settings (you scan special barcodes in the book)

USB cable is nice, somewhat heavy, about 7-8' in length with the USB adapter circuit in a bubble near the USB connector end.

Scan completion time is very nice for the cost, well under a second with an audible confirmation beep.

Unless you are really high usage, have barcodes wider than 3.5" or need laser range and accuracy, you will find this more than adequate.And the price (about $47 when I got it) is one of the best I've seen - I've seen similar at $80 or more.

Ccd Contact Barcode Scanner USB Light Rugged Design Black Review

ASIN:B000GGTTC8, Adesso Contact CCD Barcode Scanner, Model NUSCAN 1000U.This is the USB model.

First, I should point out that this product is listed (on Amazon) as a CD-ROM but it is not a CD-ROM nor does it contain a CD-ROM.

The package comes with a scanner and a booklet.The scanner has a USB cable and no other cable options.The booklet contains some barcodes that let you adjust the scanner settings such as scan mode (trigger, auto, toggle) and audio feedback (tone, duration).The booklet is also available as PDF from the Adesso website.The booklet is not needed for normal operation.

Installation on WinXP involved plugging the scanner into the USB port, done.Once plugged in, it chimed the la cucaracha tune.

Usage was just as easy, point and shoot.The scanner button is rubbery yet has a nice click feel so it is very easy to use.The orientation (non-pistol style) was better than expected and is very easy to hold and scan items over and over.I was (wrongly) expecting to be able to hold the scanner inches away from the barcode but this type of scanner requires you to practically touch the product with the scanner for a successful scan.With a successful scan, the barcode numbers are entered into your computer just as-if you had typed them.
